No matter our age, culture, race, gender, religion, or class, commonalities exist amongst us. We gather in groups around some kind of foundation; often it’s family or place. We naturally drift into clusters around that structure. We display repetitive behaviors and daily activities that become a blur of consistency and persistence. We are equals – only the support or stem keeps us separate and seemingly different. Our tendencies keep us disconnected; we strive to be better than the neighbor; we dislike those who outshine us. Nevertheless we are so close in so many ways. If we step away and look from a distance, we are all alike.
